Center for the Arts Open House
September 8, 12-2 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center - Join the Visual Arts, Dance, Theater and Music department staff for a full Open House! Kids will receive a passport to visit each department where they will play trivia with staff, make projects, try a dance class, work on some improv, tour the backstage of the theater, and visit the musical petting zoo. Wilmette Dance Team Auditions: August 7, 3:30-5:45 p.m., for ages 6-17 - The recently revamped Wilmette Dance Team is looking for enthusiastic dancers to join the fun! Plans for the new season include community outreach, local performances, participation in our annual Nutcracker production, competitions and events throughout the year. Canzonetta Youth String Orchestra Auditions: August 25, 2:30 p.m., for ages 8+ - Canzonetta is a community chamber orchestra open to all string players ages 8 and higher with a goal to develop musicians into artists through impeccable technique, elite artistry and the love of music. Smaller chamber music ensembles compliment each full orchestra. The orchestra is conducted by critically acclaimed conductor Hilel Kagan, assisted by Helia Schramm, and performs three times throughout the year. New students must audition prior to registering. Nutcracker Auditions: September 15, 1-3 p.m. for ages 7+ - Actors ages 7+ and Dancers ages 9+ are welcome to audition for featured roles in our annual production of the Nutcracker. Interested participants must have one prior year of experience in acting or dance, and must be enrolled in a Fall 2 theater or dance program to be eligible for a featured role. Wilmette Improv Troupe Auditions: Monday, October 15, 4:00-6:30pm - We are searching for the silly, the zany and the fearless to join the Wilmette Improv Troupes! This year long program will teach students the art of improv, including timing, confidence, and content, all the while having fun as a team. Students are asked to perform a one-minute contemporary and/or original monologue to audition on October 15. Please email Wendy Avon to schedule an audition time.
