Wilmette Park District

Beach Season Extension Update

As the summer draws to a close, the Wilmette Park District recognizes the need to manage crowds and gatherings at Gillson Beach. Therefore, it was decided to extend the Gillson Beach Season from September 8-27, 2020. During the post season, Gillson Swimming Beach and the Beach Parking Lot will continue to be open for season pass and parking permit holders only. The temporary fence at the South Beach will remain in place until late fall. The South Beach will still remain open for walking only, visitors are not permitted to congregate, and the no swimming rule will be strictly enforced. With such an unusual start to summer, we hope that the addition of the season extension will allow season pass holders to maximize their time at the beach.

Beginning September 8, there will be no lifeguards on duty at the swimming beach, and it will be swim at your own risk. The Daily Beach Hours from September 8-27 are listed below, and the Beach House will be staffed during these times:

  • Monday-Friday from 4-8 p.m.

  • Saturday & Sunday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

The addition of the season extension is exclusively for the 2020 summer in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. We appreciate your understanding as we all work together to navigate the new and fluctuating conditions.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call our Beach House during hours at 847-256-9661. If you need assistance outside of Beach House hours, staff can be reached at the Lakeview Center on Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at 847-256-9656.
