Get those acid washed jeans out of storage and dust off your can of Aqua Net for the Wilmette Children’s Theatre’s fall production of ROCK OF AGES (Middle School Edition), which will kick off the 2018-19 season in rock star style.  Adapted from the Broadway musical of the same name, ROCK OF AGES (Middle School Edition) opens on Friday, October 5th and runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through October 14th.  All performances take place at the Community Recreation Center, 3000 Glenview Road in Wilmette.

This family friendly version of the musical follows Drew, a city boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small town girl, who both travel to LA to pursue their dreams.  Landing on the Sunset Strip at the legendary Dupree Room, Drew and Sherrie encounter all sorts of colorful characters that could only exist in the 1980s.  But there is trouble on the horizon as real estate developer Hilda Klineman is looking to shut down the Dupree Room for the development of a new concept called a strip mall, and rock god Stacee Jaxx decides retire to and have his farewell concert at the Dupree Room, where it all began.

“This is a different style of show for the WCT, which is exciting,” states director Wendy Avon. “It has new kinds of challenges for the actors, and there are such a variety of characters that I think the cast will really relish in creating them.  Plus, the music is such an awesome throwback and so much fun!”  Avon is joined by Ellen Morris as Music Director and Kirsten Markham as Choreographer.

ROCK OF AGES (Middle School Edition) runs October 5-14, with performances on Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 7pm and Sundays at 2:00p.m. Performances take place in the theater in the Community Recreation Center, located at 3000 Glenview Rd in Wilmette.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased beginning September 7th either online here or by calling 847-256-9686.
