Parking Lot Reconstruction

Reconstruction work on the parking lot at the Community Recreation Center, 3000 Glenview Road, continues. The project, divided into four phases in an effort to ease parking difficulties for our patrons, is nearing the completion of Phase 3. This phase was expanded from the original plans to include the main driveway and all parking lot areas to the east of the building. Phase 4 will now affect only the front parking lot. The estimated completion date for the project is early July, but adverse weather conditions have already had an impact on the progress of the project to date and could continue to delay completion.

The parking lot reconstruction work includes replacing all of the sectional curbs with poured in place curbs. Sidewalks will be replaced in many areas and the walk in front of the building will be widened by two feet. All crosswalks will be brought up to current codes by installing tactile warning tiles at each location. Work also includes sewer replacement and under draining the lot.

Reconstruction of the pavement areas includes complete removal of the surface and any gravel underneath. All areas will be excavated and will be checked to make sure the ground is stable. Once that is complete, geotextile fabric will be installed, gravel spread on top of that followed by an asphalt binder. Once the entire lot has been rebuilt and the binder installed, the last phase will be to apply the finish surface to limit the number of "seams" in the surface.
