Taylor Brooks Press Release 2021

Exciting news in the Sports Department! The Wilmette Park District family recently expanded to include a new Recreation Supervisor in charge of sports programs. Welcome, Taylor Brooks!

Before joining the park district, Taylor was a Graduate Assistant at Western Illinois University where she served as a facility manager and intramural coordinator. In these roles she enjoyed providing others the opportunity to pursue their favorite leisure activities.

Taylor’s own passion for recreation and youth athletics drove her to pursue the supervisory role with the Wilmette Park District. “Growing up, I was fortunate to have countless opportunities to find myself through leisure,” she explained, “this position at the park district will give me the ability to create those same opportunities for the Wilmette community.” With a background in athletics, including 10 years as a youth basketball coach, Taylor has ample experience in the field and is ready for a new challenge.

Her next steps will be growing the programming from what has been successfully established. “My hope is to bring some new, unique athletic programs to the Park District to give kids, teens, and adults the opportunity to get moving and compete in non-traditional ways,” says Taylor. Motivated by the opportunity to add a creative twist to her department, she is hoping to expand the sports offerings beyond the classic games such as baseball, basketball and soccer.

Outside of work, Taylor continues to coach youth basketball. “Working with younger players is one of my favorite things to do!” She also spends her free time working on art projects or playing Spikeball with friends. Catch her at the Community Recreation Center and say hello. We can’t wait to see where she takes the sports department!
