About the Project
Background/History
A long-needed Master Landscape Plan for Gillson Park is under development with the help of Upland Design. In addition, Wilmette Park District landscape design and horticulture staff are creating landscape plans for other parks throughout the District.
Project Inception
On June 20, 2023, the Wilmette Park District and Upland Design hosted their first Open House to introduce community members to an outline of the Gillson Park landscape project and to receive feedback. See the presentation boards that were on display at the Open House below. An initial survey was offered to participants in June 2023.
Following the summer and fall of 2023, landscape plans were developed for all Wilmette Park District parks. View each of the complete and approved Landscape Plans below.
Planning Goal and Outcomes
The overall goals of the Gillson Park Master Landscape Plan, as well as all park landscape plans, are to enhance parks’ natural areas while protecting existing high-quality trees and shrubs, and preserving existing open spaces.
