Price

The cost of the new league is $85/resident and $106/non-resident.

  • At this time you do not need to register for any additional programs.
  • We will issue you a household credit with the difference of what you have currently paid for the fall soccer league.
  • This process will be completed by the afternoon of Monday, August 17.

If you choose not to participate in the new program you are entitled to a full refund.

  • Full refunds will be given until the first date of pod practice.
  • After the first practice a pro-rated refund will be given.

Once household credits have been issued you will receive a receipt by email.

  • Household credits will remain on your account and will be available for your use at any time for any Wilmette Park District program.
  • If you would like to have the amount refunded back to you instead, please email the receipt and your request to cheafey@wilpark.org.

Teams

In each grade/gender level (5th-8th grade is combined for due to registration numbers) we will create larger pods instead of our traditional smaller teams.

  • For example, in Kindergarten we traditionally have teams of 8 players which play 4 V 4. Kindergarten girls will now have 3 pods of 20 players each.

Pods will be created by school.

  • We may need to combine schools to create a pod.
  • For example, if Central has 14 players and Romona has 6 players they will be combined to create one pod.

Each pod will be static, no intermingling between or changing pods once practice has begun.

Each pod will practice one day a week and will have a designated time on Saturdays to hold scrimmages within their own pod as well.

  • For example, in Kindergarten if you have a pod of 20 players you can create 4 teams of 5 players each and hold two scrimmage games at the same time.

Coaches and Wilmette Park District Staff

We will still rely on parent volunteers to coach each pod.

  • Andy Zavattero, the soccer league coordinator, and Carol Heafey will work with the coaches to set up practice times and go over league rules and the new COVID-19 guidelines

We will have staff at each practice and scrimmage location. Staff will be taking attendance, enforcing the face mask requirement, ensuring groups are maintaining 30 ft. distance and other aspects of our new soccer rules.

Spectators

While we would love to have everyone out at the fields cheering on the players, we need to limit the spectators this season.

  • Please only have one person at the fields per child for both practice and scrimmage. Our groups need to stay within the 50 person limit.
  • Any additional spectators will need to stay at least 30 feet away from any group.

Additional Information

  • Each player will receive a reversible penny for this season. Players must supply their own shin guards, cleats, shorts and socks.
  • Each player must provide their own soccer ball! No shared equipment between players.
  • Participants are not required to wear face covering over their nose and mouth whenever actively exercising or participating in practices, scrimmages, or competition
  • Participants are required to wear a face covering over their nose and mouth whenever not actively exercising or participating in practices, scrimmages, or competition, i.e. along the sidelines, bleachers, benches, dugouts, entering and exiting the facility, etc.
  • Practices will only be held at our designated sites. We need to take attendance at practice and scrimmages as this will assist us with contact tracing if needed.
  • Practices will start the week of August 31
  • Scrimmages will start September 5 thru October 24. No scrimmages on September 19.

Please contact Carol Heafey with any questions or concerns: cheafey@wilpark.org.
