THE Wilmette Block Party 2025: A Look Back at a Day Full of Energy, Music, and Community.
9/25/2025
Downtown Wilmette came alive on Saturday, September 6
As thousands filled the streets for the fourth annual Wilmette Block Party. Presented in partnership by the Wilmette Park District, Village of Wilmette, and the Wilmette/Kenilworth Chamber of Commerce, the all-day celebration ran from noon to 10 p.m., transforming the village center into a lively gathering place for neighbors, families and friends. The sunshine warmed the day, though it felt even brighter thanks to the positive energy radiating throughout the event.

From the very start, the Block Party buzzed with excitement. Twenty-two sponsor booths lined the streets alongside 40 booths in the Kids Zone, offering games, activities, and interactive fun for children of all ages. Families wandered from one attraction to the next while sampling food from 10 local vendors. On the Kids Zone stage, 11 local performances captivated young audiences throughout the afternoon, giving the day a steady rhythm of laughter and applause.
“This event is worth every bit of time and effort,” said Lindsay Thomas, Event Co-Host and Superintendent of Operations for Wilmette Park District. “Seeing the community come downtown to relax, have fun, and enjoy a special atmosphere within Wilmette makes it all worthwhile.”
New traditions took root this year, adding even more variety to the celebration. Guests sipped cold drinks from two added mini bars, and all beverages at the event were served in recyclable aluminum cups or cans to help keep the event sustainable. A traditional photo booth quickly became a gathering spot for friends eager to capture memories. All the while, a puppy adoption station from One Tail at a Time had tails wagging and hearts melting. As evening fell, the downtown streets glowed with vibrant light installations courtesy of Glow Getters, while sound-reactive LED wristbands pulsed along with the music.
Secret shows tucked away in Ouilmette Way created an air of discovery. Akimbo Jim and Truman Sinclair delivered unique performances that delighted those lucky to stumble upon them.
“Turning Ouilmette Way into a secret show venue was one of my favorite parts,” Thomas said. “Akimbo Jim and Truman Sinclair gave amazing performances in such an intimate setting, and we couldn’t have done it without support from staff and community members who helped organize the performances.”
Of course, the party also brought back experiences Wilmette has come to love. Free Waterloo drinks helped guests stay refreshed, while the Jesse White Tumblers once again amazed the crowd with their signature acrobatic stunts. The ever-popular foam party was a highlight for kids and adults alike, its sudsy excitement turning a downtown street into a playground of laughter and dance moves. Shoppers explored the Block Party swag shop, picking up custom hats, belt bags, patches, and other keepsakes to remember the day.
Music pulsed throughout the event, with the main stage showcasing a dynamic lineup. Sincerely Sarlacc kicked things off in the afternoon, followed by Dirty Pop, who brought high-energy hits into the evening. The crowd packed the streets and sang along as Anthem closed the night, keeping the Block Party’s energy soaring until the end. Between sets, the Rhythm Messengers drumline electrified the streets, while an LED stilt walker and a juggler added unexpected bursts of entertainment throughout the evening.
Ashleigh Siegel, Event Co-Host and Special Events Coordinator for the Village of Wilmette, said the new additions stood out. “The light-up letters and wristbands gave downtown such a glow and made the night feel electric,” she said. “And the puppy adoptions from One Tail at a Time were just wonderful—seeing families connect with future pets was a real highlight.”
Thomas also expressed gratitude for the support of local businesses and individuals. “Our sponsors make this event possible,” she said. “From Heil & Heil Insurance Agency to Canning & Canning, FJ Kerrigan Plumbing, J Blanton Plumbing, and Dave and Amy Chung Compass Real Estate, we’re so thankful for their commitment to the community.”
Along with thanking the sponsors, Thomas recognized the individuals who make the event possible. “Our vendors provide the food and entertainment, but it’s our staff, volunteers, and partners at the Village and Chamber who make it happen on the ground,” she said. “This event is the definition of community collaboration.”

As the music faded and the lights dimmed, there was no doubt that Wilmette Block Party- 2025 had left its mark. What began in 2022 as a one-time celebration has grown into a cherished community tradition.
