Two Ways to Save at the Beach this Summer
This summer, Wilmette Park District continues to offer creative ways for families to enjoy the lakefront, with two ways to save: Beach Bound Library Passes and Discount Days at Wilmette’s swimming beaches.
Beach Bound Library Passes Provide Free Admission
The Beach Bound Library Pass Program gives free admission to Gillson Swimming Beach, thanks to a partnership with Explore More Illinois and local libraries.
Active library cardholders from the following communities are eligible to reserve passes:
- Wilmette (2 passes available per day)
- Skokie
- Niles
- Des Plaines
- Morton Grove
- Glenview
Each pass lets up to six people visit Gillson Swimming Beach for free. If you bring more guests, they can get resident daily admission rates. You can reserve passes up to two months ahead, and they are given out first-come, first-served. If your date is booked, check back often—canceled reservations open up right away.
To learn how to reserve a pass and see all program details, visit the Wilmette Park District Bulletin Board at wilpark.org/BeachBoundPasses
Discount Days Return for 2026
If you want another way to save, try the Park District’s Discount Days. Everyone, both residents and non-residents, can get reduced admission rates.
Discount Days run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during regular hours at all three Wilmette swimming beaches.
Discount Day Admission Rates
- South Beach: $3
- Gillson Main Beach: $6
- Langdon Beach: $6
Children under age 2 are admitted free.
Visitors simply arrive at the beach of their choice and purchase a discounted daily pass at the gate. Regular parking rates apply at the Gillson Parking Lot.
