Gillson Park will host a regional K-9 and drone search-and-rescue training exercise on Tuesday, August 11, from 8 am to Noon.
Approximately 15 local police and fire personnel will conduct a simulated missing-person search. A designated individual will follow a set route, enabling K-9 teams to track their scent. Drones will provide aerial support.
Gillson Park will remain open during the exercise, though visitors should expect increased activity and congestion. Around 15 emergency vehicles will be present, and visitors may see K-9 teams, drones and personnel in plain clothes. Signs will indicate that a training exercise is in progress.
The exercise will occur throughout most of Gillson Park, but will not include the Dog Beach. Personnel are available to answer questions and engage with visitors when training permits.
We appreciate your patience as Gillson Park serves as a valuable training site for local first responders to enhance their search-and-rescue skills.
