9/27/23 – Maple Park Playground has something for everyone!
The Maple Park Playground reopened in August 2022 with a ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration. Since it’s reopening, the park welcomed a great many visitors, and we received positive feedback and appreciation for the playground. But our work wasn’t finished – Maple Park needed play equipment to cater to younger visitors, ages 2-5.
After hearing from our residents that additional equipment was needed for toddlers, our Parks and Planning crew jumped into action to put together a fun play area for younger visitors. They designed a space that includes a slide, a market structure with climb and play panels, and new sand features. The equipment was ordered in May 2023, and following a slight shipping/delivery delay, the new equipment was installed in August. Now children of all ages can enjoy Maple Park to the fullest!
One Wilmette resident wrote in soon after the playground opened, “We tried out the toddler play area today and it is so great. Thanks so much!” Her family eagerly awaited the completion of the playground so that her youngest could play in the park alongside their older siblings.
We’re grateful to have a community that is invested in our parks and open spaces! Thanks to you, Maple Park boasts a playground that was custom designed, from start to finish, based on public input. It’s a perfect example of how community feedback helps us identify areas where we can make improvements and give you a better space to recreate. If you haven’t done so already, plan a visit to Maple Park Playground!
