Welcome, Eric Gonzalez

2/12/24 – Let’s extend a warm welcome for Eric Gonzalez, the new Human Resources Assistant and latest addition to the Wilmette Park District team!

Eric is no stranger to the business of fun. “I have been involved in the parks and recreation field since I was 15 years old,” he said. Eric’s professional journey, like so many others, began with a part-time summer job as a lifeguard at his local park district in Wheeling. After graduating from Illinois State University with a degree in Psychology, he worked as the Aquatics Manager at Wheeling Park District and at Lifetime Vernon Hills. Most recently, Eric served as the Aquatics Lakefront Supervisor for the Park District of Highland Park.

“I’m really looking forward to this position,” says Eric. “One of my favorite aspects of being an Aquatics Manager and Supervisor was training the staff on my team and watching them grow.” As Wilmette’s HR Assistant, he’ll welcome new employees and help them acclimate to their positions throughout the Park District by monitoring the human resources information system and ensuring that all part-time and full-time staff are onboarded thoroughly and efficiently.

Outside the office, you may catch Eric playing pickleball, relaxing while listening to an audiobook or podcast or cracking a dad joke! Be sure to say hello.
