Welcome, Katelynn Putkonen

4/24/24 – Say “hello” to your new Recreation General Manager, Katelynn Putkonen! Katelynn joined our team in March, having already accomplished her 10-year milestone in the Parks and Recreation field. She’s thrilled to begin her next chapter in Wilmette.

Katelynn spent the last four years as the Recreation Programs and Aquatics Manager at River Trails Park District in Mt. Prospect and, before that, as Operations Supervisor at the Village of Libertyville. Her professional portfolio is packed with experience in events, programs, aquatics, athletics, facility management, staff development and training. “I’m excited to apply my skills to this team and get to know the Wilmette Park District,” says Katelynn.

Parks and Recreation has been woven into Katelynn’s life since childhood. Her mother worked in the field for the last 20 years; and Katelynn grew up in park district programs, leagues, and summer camps. It’s no surprise that her first job was as a summer camp counselor!

“This new role aligns seamlessly with my history rooted in the field,” Katelynn said. “I’m eager to be a part of this District, its large variety of programming and strong community involvement.”

Katelynn is starting just in time with summer camps fast approaching. “Summer camp is a top priority; I’m making sure we provide the tools and knowledge for the staff to succeed and a memorable summer experience for our community.”

When she isn’t conducting summer camp operations, you’ll most likely find Katelynn outdoors. In her spare time, she gardens, plays golf, goes boating and runs races, but her favorite pastime is spending time with her blue heeler, Archie.
