End of Season South Beach Update

9/4/24 – South Beach Fall Updates

The 2024 swim season is over, and the fence at South Beach will be removed soon.

What does this mean for accessing South Beach?

South Beach operations close for the season on September 3. There will be no lifeguards on duty, and there are no fees to visit South Beach for the duration of the off-season. Visitors may walk and lounge on the shore, and leashed dogs are welcome.

Are visitors allowed to enter the water in the off-season?

In the off-season, patrons may swim at their own risk at South Beach. With operations ceasing and lifeguards no longer on duty, we warn visitors to exercise caution, be vigilant and note the conditions of the shore. No one should enter the water alone. Signage will be placed along the lakefront stating, “Swim at your own risk” and “No one should enter water alone.”

What is the plan for next season at South Beach?

We have received a wealth of valuable feedback throughout the season regarding South Beach Operations. Thank you for reaching out with your thoughts, concerns and suggestions. We’re reviewing public input and working with Lakefront staff to consider the best option for Summer 2025. We continue to welcome your input regarding South Beach and invite you to contact Steve Wilson with your ideas and suggestions at swilson@wilpark.org
