TOUCH A TRUCK

FREE EVENT for all ages – no registration required!

Saturday, April 25
10 am-Noon

Touch A Truck puts kids in the driver’s seat! Join the Wilmette Park District, Village of Wilmette and more during this FREE and unique opportunity to explore trucks of all types all in one place. Inspect the equipment, meet the men and women who operate the big rigs and learn how they help us in our community. Attendees, both young and young at heart are allowed to touch, climb, and ask questions about their favorite trucks in a safe, supervised environment.

Trucks may include buses, plow trucks, utility vehicles, tractors, loaders, sweepers, mowers, fire and tow trucks, pressure washers, spray rigs, and other service vehicles.

Sensory Friendly Start: 10-10:20 am

Please do not blow horns or honk the vehicles for the first 20 minutes of Touch A Truck to allow our noise-sensitive participants time to enjoy the event.

This event takes place in the parking lot of Centennial Recreation Center (2300 Old Glenview Road).

Have a truck or specialty vehicle you’d love to showcase? Vendors can email Julie Freels at jfreels@wilpark.org for participation information.

Share Our Spare On-Site Donations

New This Year!

Share Our Spare (SOS) will be onsite collecting new and gently used baby and toddler supplies – click HERE for a list of all accepted items. SOS is bringing the Kona Ice Truck to the event and a percentage of sales will go toward SOS!

Share Our Spare works to address diaper need and the struggle parents facing poverty have in affording the essentials their children need for safe, healthy development. We do this by partnering with social service agencies across the region to provide access for families to diapers, baby care items (both new and used that we repurpose), clothing and other basic needs for children from birth to age 5. Our vision is that every child has what they need for a good start and every family the support and empowerment for successful parenting. To this end, we also work to raise awareness of issues such as diaper need and period poverty, advocate for our region’s most vulnerable children and families, and build community around meaningful solutions.
