SPORTS MEDLEY for tots

PARENT / TOT SPORTS TIME
Age 2-3 w/adult
Sign up your little one for the ultimate first-time sports experience! Each week, adults assist their tots as they play a body-challenging sport, improve listening skills, and learn how to follow directions. We explore a variety of sports such as soccer, t-ball, basketball, and kickball through fun games and partner play. This is a great opportunity to get active with your child in a positive and controlled setting. Bring a labeled water bottle. Friday mornings

Age 2-3 w/adult
Help your tot develop basic sports movement and motor skills. We provide the sports equipment and instruction to help guide your child through an introduction to organized sports, while focusing on hand/eye and hand/foot coordination. NO CLASS: January 16 & February 20. Monday mornings

ADULT / TOT LITTLE GYMSTERS
Age 2-3 w/adult
We assist parents as they guide their children through exploratory movement, large motor play, and interactive activities. Through obstacle courses, balloons and paddles, ball skills, parachute time, creative exercises, free time play and sports games, children develop body awareness, build social skills, and expand their imaginations. This vivacious age deserves a vivacious and fun class to set the stage for an active, healthy lifestyle! Bring a labeled water bottle. Saturday mornings

We introduce kids to fundamentals of basketball, floor hockey, football, kickball, soccer, t-ball and more. Each child will develop motor skills and nurture his/her growth socially and emotionally though teamwork and good sportsmanship. NO CLASS: January 16 & February 20. Monday mornings

Age 3-5
Children join the SportsKids staff for sporting fun in this exciting program! Boys and girls will try the skills used in soccer, basketball, floor hockey, t-ball and other sports. Please bring a labeled water bottle. Mondays at noon

PEEWEE SPORTSTERS
Age 4-6
Let's play! Each week, your child explores the wide world of sports as they participate in a different sport, such as t-ball, track & field, basketball, lacrosse and soccer. Children get a lot of practice with skills through creative and fun drills and games. Don't miss out on the fun! Bring a labeled water bottle. Wednesday afternoons or Saturday mornings


ARCHERY

ADULT & CHILD ARCHERY

Age 6-13 w/adult
You and your child will meet new friends while learning the parts of an arrow and recurve bow; the basics of using the bow; a nationally-recognized beginner's 9 steps to the 10-ring progression method; and fundamental shooting skills, from an experienced instructor. We provide the blunt-tipped arrows, bows, and targets. Saturday mornings

ARCHERY

Age 7-13
Archery participants learn the parts of an arrow and recurve bow, the basics of using a recurve bow, and fundamental shooting skills in an extremely safe environment. They also learn an excellent, nationally-recognized beginner's 9-steps to the 10-ring progression, created by the Coaches Development Committee of the National Archery Association. Both technique and games are part of this class. We provide the blunt-tipped arrows, bows, and targets. We offer Beginner and Advanced Beginner levels. Thursday afternoons


BASEBALL

Enjoy America's favorite pastime with your child. Young children develop motor skills while having fun throwing, catching, batting, and base running like the big kids. LITTLE SLUGGERS
Age 3-5
In this program, young athletes learn baseball fundamentals such as running the bases, throwing, catching, fielding, and hitting the ball off a tee. Exciting drills and games help children learn about teamwork and good sportsmanship, in an atmosphere where participation and fun are top priority. Bring a labeled water bottle and mitt. BASKETBALL

Adults and their children play together in this introduction to the game of basketball in a safe, fun, and exciting environment. Our instructors use age-appropriate activities and games specifically designed to develop balance, body awareness, motor skills, hand eye coordination, listening skills, and the ability to follow directions. LITTLE DRIBBLERS
Age 3-5
This class is designed to introduce the sport of basketball to children and help them develop motor skills and hand-eye coordination through fun drills and games. Young hoopsters learn the fundamentals of bouncing, catching and shooting. Monday or Wednesday afternoons

FENCING

FENCING
Age 6-9 and 9-12
The Olympic sport of fencing demands a blend of tactical and strategic thought, and a physical execution of those decisions. We cover basic rules, etiquette, footwork, attacks and defenses. Classes consist of warmup time, footwork time, a group lesson and bouting. We provide all the equipment. Monday afternoons

Enjoy Nerf football with your child! You, along with our accomplished coaches, will help your little athlete learn the proper form and techniques for catching, throwing, center skills, hand-offs, kick-offs and more, in our fun and friendly setting. Saturday mornings

[On-The-Go Sports]
NON-CONTACT FOOTBALL
Age 6-12
This high-energy non-contact football clinic teaches the fundamentals, including passing, receiving, blocking and routes. Participants receive top-notch instruction from coaches who have played the sport on a collegiate or professional level. On-The-Go Sports is lead by former Northwestern star and Chicago Bear Chris Martin. Classes include scrimmages, and occasional guest speakers. LOCATION: Highcrest Middle School. LACROSSE

LACROSSE FOR TOTS
Age 4-6
Play lacrosse like the big kids! This recreational class covers basic lacrosse techniques including cradling, scooping, passing, catching, shooting, and goalie skills. We use age-appropriate-size sticks and softer balls for safety. Bring a labeled water bottle. Monday afternoons

Age 7-10
Join us to experience one of our fastest-growing sports! Young athletes learn techniques including cradling, passing, catching, shooting, goalie skills, defense, and much more in this recreational program. MARTIAL ARTS

PRE-KARATE
Age 4-6
In our Pre-Karate classes, children develop flexibility, strength, and coordination through fun, yet disciplined, activities. This program is specifically designed for growing minds and bodies to enhance memory and agility. Watch your child's confidence blossom as skills improve! Uniforms and belt testing are options available through the ISKC instructor. NOTE: both beginner and intermediate/advanced levels are available. Beginning students are not permitted to register into the current session after the second class has met. Tuesday afternoons

[Young Tigers]
TAEKWONDO
Age 6-18
Basic techniques of Taekwondo, combined with deep breathing exercises, help children develop proper posture, concentration and coordination. Practice of proper manners helps to develop courtesy, self-esteem and self-control. Class is taught in a relaxed and fun environment. Students should wear a martial arts uniform during class (white Taekwondo uniform-dobock, which can be ordered at the class). Instructor Grand Master Kim has more than 50 years of martial arts training, and has been teaching students at the Wilmette Park District since 1998. TAEKWONDO FOR ADULTS
Age 18 & up
This class is for beginners who want to learn traditional Taekwondo for self-defense, health, physical fitness and stress release. The instructor emphasizes practice of basic blocks, punches, kicks, stretches and deep breathing. Instructor Grand Master Kim has more than 50 years of martial arts training, and has been teaching students at the Wilmette Park District since 1998. Uniforms can be purchased in class. YOUTH/ADULT KARATE
Age 7 & up
Develop flexibility, strength and coordination in fun, yet disciplined activities. This program offers a good mix of strength training, with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Students increase their coordination, agility and poise, as well as learn lasting personal safety skills. They also benefit from the mental stimulation of learning the choreographed moves of the kata and the discipline of conforming to the class rules. Uniforms and Belt Testing are available from our instructor. Our Youth and Adult classes may train together. Beginning students may not join the current session after the second class has met. COACH ABE'S MINI SOCCER
Age 3-4
This class is a great introduction to the game of soccer for three and four-year-olds. Each player learns the first steps to ball mastery and acquires the necessary building blocks for success in the future. We teach the following moves: Stop and Go, Rollbacks, controlled dribbling, dancing on the ball, Beckenbaur and many more. LOCATION: McKenzie Elementary School. Tuesday mornings, or Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Sunday afternoons

COACH ABE'S SOCCER
Come play soccer with Coach Abe in a fun and safe environment! As each child progresses, they learn new and more challenging moves. We introduce new concepts at each level, with new games and a broader understanding of the tactical side. The game is broken down to each student's level; Coach Abe takes pride in improving everyone's game. Students learn the following moves: Zig-Zag dribbling, Tuck and Under, inside hook, outside hook, the Maradona, Cruff, scissors, and many more. We finish each class with a scrimmage. Morning classes Tuesdays or Thursdays; afternoon classes Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays


TRACK AND FIELD

TOT TRACK & FIELD
Age 3-5
This unique class combines stretching, movement, and other fitness concepts with running, jumping, throwing and other skills used in track and field. Children will work on body coordination, agility, balance, and self-confidence. The session will conclude with a fun-filled track and field meet on the last day of class. Please bring a labeled water bottle. Monday afternoons

YOUTH TRACK & FIELD
Age 6-10
This class introduces kids to track and field, one of the oldest sports that continues to grow that's highlighted by the Olympics every four years. Our young athletes learn the jumping, running and throwing skills involved in the sport of track and field. They'll practice sprints, relays, long-distance walking, running hurdles, long jump, discus throw and other track and field events. On the last day of class, we'll have a fun-filled track and field meet! Please bring a labeled water bottle. Monday afternoons


VOLLEYBALL

VOLLEYBALL SKILLS CLINICS
Age 6-9 and 10-13
This clinic explores the core volleyball skills; serving, passing, setting and attacking. Players build a solid foundation with these fundamental skills through fun and active drills, moving up to team play. This class is for the volleyball beginner looking to understand the game and learn new skills. Knee pads are recommended. Tuesday or Thursday evenings
