Each week, adults assist their tots as they play a body-challenging sport, improve listening skills, and learn how to follow directions. Archery participants learn the parts of an arrow and recurve bow, the basics of using a recurve bow, and fundamental shooting skills in an extremely safe environment. They also learn an excellent, nationally-recognized beginner's 9-steps to the 10-ring progression, created by the Coaches Development Committee of the National Archery Association. The Olympic sport of fencing demands a blend of tactical and strategic thought, and a physical execution of those decisions. We cover basic rules, etiquette, footwork, attacks and defenses. This high-energy non-contact football clinic teaches the fundamentals, including passing, receiving, blocking and routes. Participants receive top-notch instruction from coaches who have played the sport on a collegiate or professional level. On-The-Go Sports is lead by former Northwestern star and Chicago Bear Chris Martin. Classes include scrimmages, and occasional guest speakers. LOCATION: Highcrest Middle School. In our Pre-Karate classes, children develop flexibility, strength, and coordination through fun, yet disciplined, activities. This program is specifically designed for growing minds and bodies to enhance memory and agility. Watch your child's confidence blossom as skills improve! TAEKWONDO
Age 6-18
Basic techniques of Taekwondo, combined with deep breathing exercises, help children develop proper posture, concentration and coordination. Practice of proper manners helps to develop courtesy, self-esteem and self-control. Class is taught in a relaxed and fun environment. Students should wear a martial arts uniform during class (white Taekwondo uniform-dobock, which can be ordered at the class). Instructor Grand Master Kim has more than 50 years of martial arts training, and has been teaching students at the Wilmette Park District since 1998. This class is for beginners who want to learn traditional Taekwondo for self-defense, health, physical fitness and stress release. The instructor emphasizes practice of basic blocks, punches, kicks, stretches and deep breathing. Instructor Grand Master Kim has more than 50 years of martial arts training, and has been teaching students at the Wilmette Park District since 1998. Uniforms can be purchased in class. Age 7 & up
Develop flexibility, strength and coordination in fun, yet disciplined activities. This program offers a good mix of strength training, with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Students increase their coordination, agility and poise, as well as learn lasting personal safety skills. They also benefit from the mental stimulation of learning the choreographed moves of the kata and the discipline of conforming to the class rules. Uniforms and Belt Testing are available from our instructor. Our Youth and Adult classes may train together. Beginning students may not join the current session after the second class has met. Join the growing trend of pickleball in our area and learn how to play! Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many aspects of tennis, badminton and ping-pong into one. It is a paddle sport that is compatible for people of all ages and skill levels. This class will include instruction on dinking, partner work, feet movement, lobs, drop shots, serves and more. This class is a great introduction to the game of soccer for three and four-year-olds. Each player learns the first steps to ball mastery and acquires the necessary building blocks for success in the future. We teach the following moves: Stop and Go, Rollbacks, controlled dribbling, dancing on the ball, Beckenbaur and many more. LOCATION: McKenzie Elementary School. COACH ABE'S SOCCER
Come play soccer with Coach Abe in a fun and safe environment! As each child progresses, they learn new and more challenging moves. We introduce new concepts at each level, with new games and a broader understanding of the tactical side. The game is broken down to each student's level; Coach Abe takes pride in improving everyone's game. Students learn the following moves: Zig-Zag dribbling, Tuck and Under, inside hook, outside hook, the Maradona, Cruff, scissors, and many more. We finish each class with a scrimmage. SPRING 2023 YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUES - BOYS and GIRLS
Grades K-8

- Spring Season 2023: April 15-May 27 (June 3 & 10 rain dates)
Boys and girls play in separate leagues divided into grade levels depending on the number of registered players. Grade K-4 players are organized into teams based on the school they attend. 5-8 grade players play on mixed school teams. We do not accept friend requests or preferred team placement requests.
Uniforms & Equipment: the Wilmette Park District provides team uniforms consisting of a jersey, shorts and socks, which should be worn to all games. These uniforms are for both the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 seasons. Participants must provide their own rubber soccer cleats and shin guards.
Coaches: we rely on parents and friends for all coaching duties. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact Andrew Valett at 847-256-9690, or avalett@wilpark.org. We allow a maximum of two coaches per team for all levels.
Games: we play all games at Community Playfields, located between Highcrest Middle School and Wilmette Junior High School. Games take place on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Has your younger one been begging for the opportunity to play in a soccer league? Here is the chance to play in real games, as well as learn the fundamentals of soccer, coordination skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. We rely on volunteer parent coaches for this program. We practice for the first two weeks, and play games for the following five. We play all games at Community Playfields, located between Highcrest Middle School and Wilmette Junior High School. This unique class combines stretching, movement, and other fitness concepts with running, jumping, throwing and other skills used in track and field. This class introduces kids to track and field, one of the oldest sports that continues to grow that's highlighted by the Olympics every four years. Our young athletes learn the jumping, running and throwing skills involved in the sport of track and field. They'll practice sprints, relays, long-distance walking, running hurdles, long jump, discus throw and other track and field events. On the last day of class, we'll have a fun-filled track and field meet! Please bring a labeled water bottle. Monday afternoons
VOLLEYBALL
VOLLEYBALL SKILLS CLINICS
Age 6-9 and 10-13
This clinic explores the core volleyball skills; serving, passing, setting and attacking. Players build a solid foundation with these fundamental skills through fun and active drills, moving up to team play.
