Air Quality Alert

AIR QUALITY ALERT: July 16, 2026

The air quality today is in the Very Unhealthy (Purple) category.

To help keep participants and staff safe, the Wilmette Park District has implemented the following operational adjustments:

• Camps and outdoor programs will remain indoors as much as possible and rotate inside at least every 30 minutes.
• Staff are providing frequent hydration and rest breaks and will continue monitoring participants throughout the day.
• Outdoor activities may be modified based on current conditions and available indoor space.

CANCELLED / CLOSED

• Wilmette Gymnastics is closed the rest of the day (7/16).
• Centennial Family Aquatic Center will be closed for the day (7/16) starting at 12:45 pm.
• Wilmette Swimming & Sailing Beaches closed 7/16, no staff/lifeguards on duty.
• Footloose The Musical cancelled 7/16. All other performances of Footloose The Musical remain as scheduled – new performance date, 7/19 at 6:30 pm.
• Go Green Wilmette Mallinckrodt Park Workday cancelled 7/16.

CAMP OPERATION ADJUSTMENTS

• All camps remain indoors as much as possible.
• Beach Volleyball Camp cancelled 7/16
• All beach trips cancelled 7/16
• All camp pool visits and swim lessons cancelled 7/16
• Sports Camp’s field trip to Rainbow Falls cancelled 7/16 (campers will remain on site)
• Wiggleworms’ field trip to Action Territory cancelled 7/16 (campers will remain on site)

AT THIS TIME

• Wilmette Golf Club remains open.

All communication regarding camps and programs will be communicated via email.

We will continue monitoring air quality throughout the day and make any necessary adjustments to our operations as conditions change.
